The Lost Legacy is a custom questline that has you uncovering the secret of the mysterious Turtle Island. One of the quest rewards is the best FLEE headgear in the game at the time of writing: Momoe's Hairband.

Prerequisites & Preparation

You must have complete the Turtle Island Entrance Quest to initiate The Lost Legacy.

IMPORTANT: The final step of the quest requires you to do the most damage to a miniboss with 26k HP under a time limit; it is highly advised to not complete the quest steps on a support character.

All of the items required for this quest can be collected ahead of time to speed up the questline. These items are:

  • Sprinter's Tail (90% drop from Master Sprinter)
  • Small Bell (1% drop from Solider)
  • Odd Wooden Object (1% drop from Permeter)
  • Chalice of Water (1% drop from Freezer)
  • Triangular Key (1% drop from Assaulter)

Heaters (the fire turtle) do not drop any items relevant to the quest.

The Main Questline is broken down into the following subquests:

The Ninja Rat

1. Speak with Oroku Saki at the Alberta docks (230, 116), who is cursed and wants revenge on the monster who cursed him. He will ask you to slay Master Sprinter and return his tail as proof.

2. Slay Master Sprinter and loot Sprinter's Tail. Master Sprinter is a miniboss with the appearance of a giant Cramp, who summons giant turtle slaves. He has a static spawn near his house on the bottom left of Turtle Dungeon 2F. Note that the drop is capped at 90%, so there is a possibility it does not drop when he is killed.

3. Return Sprinter's Tail to Oroku Saki, who realized that he is still cursed despite Master Sprinter having been slain.

The Lost Legacy

1. Oroku Saki asks you to look for clues as to why he may still be cursed. Search the Urns surrounding Master Sprinter's house in Turtle Dungeon 2F (61, 35) to discover a scroll; read it to uncover the clues you were searching for.

Note: If you loot a Panacea, you are interacting with the wrong Urn; there's a second one on the other side of the house.

Dungeon Keys

The First Key

1. The first clue talks about "fueling the fire" and suggests that the turtles "with trees on their back" may be holders of the first key. Slay Permeters until you obtain an Odd Wooden Object.

2. Head to the upper left corner of Turtle Dungeon 3F and interact with the Bronze Statue (31, 167). Place the Odd Wooden Object into the slot in the statue, which results in a **CLICK**, implying something has unlocked in the distance.

The Second Key

1. The second clue refers to a "bell of earthly bronze" and suggests that "earthlike turtles" may have something to do with it. Slay Soliders until you obtain a Small Bell.

2. Head to the right side of Turtle Dungeon 3F to find an Ornate Desk (164, 92). Place the Small Bell on the stand on the desk, which results in a **CRASH!**, implying something "that sounded like a small jar" has broken in the distance.

The Third Key

1. The third clue refers to "some kind of water" and suggests that "the ones made of ice" may be its keeper. Slay Freezers until you obtain a Chalice of Water.

2. Head to the Urn Stand in a hallway near the top of the map (96, 132). Pour the water into the small recess in the stand, which results in a *drip* *drip* *drip*; all of a sudden, there seems to be a crack in the ceiling and water is leaking through it, implying something happened to the water two floors above.

The Fourth Key

1. The fourth and final clue describes the wind and strongly implies that turtles that are "swift like the wind" may possess the final key. Slay Assaulters until you obtain a Triangular Key.

2. Head to the upper left corner of Turtle Dungeon 1F and interact with the Puddle (79, 223). Insert the Triangular Key into the carved stone at the bottom of the puddle, which results in a loud noise from below in the palace, revealing that a hidden way has opened.

The Mysterious Chamber

1. Head back to Turtle Dungeon 3F and interact with the Grand Statue just south of the middle of the map (96, 47). Drop down into the gap underneath the statue.

2. You will appear on a new map. Follow the path to the right, then head south (do not speak to the Hydra) and back down to the left again. To find an Old Turtle Shell (35, 23).

LostLegacy9.png

3. Reach under the shell to pull out the final key, but you are stopped by a mysterious presence. They claim they have already taken the real key to the treasure and that "this place will be your grave!" and commence an attack; defeat the Ashi Clan Leader and take the key from them!

Note: You must do the most damage to this boss in order to obtain the Treasure Key. It is a Quest Item that will appear in your inventory which cannot be dropped or traded.

4. Once the Ashi Clan Leader is defeated and the Treasure Key is obtained, interact with the Hydra you walked past ("Curious Vines") to climb back up to the surface of Turtle Island.

Note: The following two questlines, The Final Key and The Library / Momoe's Memento, can be done in any order. Seeing as you're already on the Turtle Island surface, it is recommended to complete The Final Key first.

The Final Key

1. Head to the top left corner of the Turtle Island surface and interact with the Big Turtle Statue (91, 189), which yields the treasure of Turtle Island!

You will obtain:

  • 1 Old Purple Box
  • 3 Yggdrasil Leaf
  • 1 Yggdrasil Seed
  • 1 Ruby
  • 1 Cursed Ruby
  • 1 Opal
  • 1 Garnet
  • 1 Aquamarine

The Library

1. Head back down to Turtle Dungeon 3F one final time. Interact with the Old Tomes on the bookshelf near the bottom left of the map (75, 48). You find a journal; reading it reveals the true origin of Oroku Saki's curse as well as a way to potentially end the suffering. You find Momoe's Hairband nearby and decide to take it back to Oroku Saki.

Note: The "Momoe's Hairband" item in this step is a Quest Item and is not yet equippable.

LostLegacy12.png

Momoe's Memento

1. Return to Oroku Saki at the Alberta docks (230, 116), to give them Momoe's Hairband and explain the contents of the diary. This relieves him of the hatred he has been holding on to; he decides to give you Momoe's Hairband as a thank you for ending his suffering, and so the memory of Momoe can live on.
