Overview

Once Acolytes have undergone rigorous spiritual training and have served the Church and the community as a whole, they have the opportunity to be promoted within the ranks of the Church. If the Monk is said to train their body to fight evil and the Undead physically, the Priest does so with magic. As their spiritual journey brings them closer to God, they gain advanced skills in healing as well as new ways to assist their allies and harm their foes. They are able to resurrect fallen comrades, protect them from harm, and bless their weapons. They can create spaces of safe haven where the Undead cannot penetrate and can decimate hordes of Undead with ease.

Most Priests find themselves in company more often than not, typically giving up their offensive abilities in order to further support those they travel with. Even though Priests are typically not on the front lines of battle, they need to be constantly aware of their surroundings and their companions. A Priest that fails to pay attention can cause problems for themselves and their friends. Priests must be able to focus on the situation at hand and also be able to multitask with little difficulty in order to assure their party stays alive.

Requirements
Base Level: None
Job Level: 40
Job Class: Acolyte
Rewards
Quest Reward(s) Jobchange to Priest

1. Apply to become a Priest in the Prontera Church (prt_church 16, 41) by speaking to Bishop Paul.

2. You must visit all three Ascetics from the Acolyte Job Quest. However, this step may be skipped by Job Level 50 Acolytes.

3. After returning from the three Ascetics, Bishop Paul grants you access to a room where the next two tests will take place: Exorcism and Temptation.

4. In this room, click Peter S. Alberto multiple times to activate his dialogue window. The excessive clicking required is actually part of the test, not a bug. A Priest can come along to help for these two tests by following the same instructions and bringing a 2608.png Rosary in their inventory (not equipped).

5. In the next few rooms, defeat all the Zombie that appear. All must be killed in each room to clear the Exorcism stage and move onto Temptation.

6. Successfully walk past four NPCs (Deviruchi, Doppleganger, Dark Lord, and finally Baphomet) without accepting their deals. Some may offer bribes or insist Priest life is too difficult to be worthwhile, but choose options that reject their offers.

7. Following this is another series of rooms where Zombies spawn, with Mummies mixed in. It is not necessary to kill them all, simply run by.

8. After exiting the last room, you'll be warped back to Bishop Paul. He suggests speaking with Sister Cecelia on the other side of the room. Employ common sense to answer her questions with holy and righteous responses to pass it.

9. Return to Bishop Paul to become a Priest after a bit of dialogue. He will reward Job Level 50 Acolytes with a Bible[2], while those below Job 50 will receive a Book[3].

Class Data

Payon Stories Balance Changes

See Class Rebalance (Priest) for detailed information.

  • SP Recovery: Ticks every 5 Seconds in line with the overall increased HP/SP regen in Payon Stories.
  • Mace Mastery: Mace Mastery is now called Battle Mastery and does +4 ATK per skill level for books and maces (up from +3 ATK for only maces). At level 10 this skill also provides a 12% increase to mace attack speed.
  • Turn Undead: If Turn Undead fails to land, it now does [Base Level + INT + Skill Level*10] * 3 damage.
  • Gloria: Buff length is now set to 10 Seconds + 10 Seconds Per rank. Therefore, at max rank, the buff persists for a whole minute.
  • Magnus Exorcismus: Now hits all monsters with Holy property damage. Non-Undead and non-Demon monsters take 50% damage from the skill. Holy monsters are immune to the damage.
  • NEW SKILL - Renew: This skill retains all the functionality of Slow Poison (stopping the reduction of health while poisoned without curing the status). Additionally, each rank of Renew heals the target for (25 + 1.5% of Target's Maximum HP) per skill level every 3 seconds. The maximum skill level is 4. The skill cannot be used on monsters and therefore cannot be used offensively against undead. The skill is instant cast, but has a high SP cost of 40 + (15 * Skill Level). The effect lasts for 30 seconds.
  • NEW SKILL - Holy Strike: A melee-based platinum skill that will do a holy damage attack based on your strength to an enemy you are attacking.
