Overview

The Novice is the starting point for all characters in Ragnarok Online. When you create a new character, you may choose from different Hairstyles and Hair colors. Novices do not incur any EXP penalty upon death, and regain 50% HP when respawning. You may also choose which starting Stats to have. Once Job Level 10, Novices can change into one of the following First Classes:

• Swordman
• Magician
• Archer
• Merchant
• Thief
• Acolyte

Alternatively, they can choose to become an Expanded Class:

• Super Novice

Training Grounds

1. Talk to the Shion, the very first NPC where you spawn. Talk to her twice to gain +1 base level.

2. Talk to the Receptionist inside the building, type your character's name then choose Apply for training.

3. Talk to the Interfaces Tutor. Choose first option until levels are gained.

4. Talk to the Item Tutor, when asked to use Novice Potion, use it for +1 Base Level. When asked to equip Novice Slippers, equip it for +1 base level.

5. Talk to the Kafra Employee. Choose About Kafra services then read the first two options for levels.

6. Talk to the Skill Tutor. He will give you some experience and teach you the First Aid Skill.

7. Go to the left room and talk to Helper, the left NPC in the combat field room.

8. Talk to the Entrance Guard, the right NPC in the combat field room to warp you to the training field.

9. Here in the Training Field, it is your choice on what monster to kill to gain experience. For access to higher difficulty monsters in the training field, talk to the Trainer and choose "I do want more of a challenge~" or "I wanna fight tough monsters!"

• Note: You have the option to die to a random monster or use a Novice Butterfly Wing in order to go back to the combat field room and gain +1 base level by talking to the Entrance Guard again.

10. Kill monsters until Job Level 10 or until satisfied then head to the Test Examiner NPC on the rightmost part of the map to go to the next room.

• Note: Talk to the Stat Specialist NPC to reset your stat points if necessary.

11. Talk to Bruce for a quick First Job Class Explanation. Go through any option you want once.

12. Talk to Hanson and choose if you want to take the Novice Personality Test by choosing the option, "I'll take the course." or going straight to town by choosing the option, "Let me start Ragnarok Online please."

• Note: It is advisable to take the Novice Personality Test for starter gear based on the job that you will get from the test.
